Our individual actions have implications for pollution in the oceans, which in turn impacts ocean and coastal wildlife and our health and welfare.
We need to move away from a throwaway society to a circular economy in which all products are designed to be repaired, recycled, reused and remade, thereby removing the waste and the litter.
We all need to contribute to reduce marine pollution and advocate for change to eliminate single-use plastics and bags, the removal of microbeads in personal care products, changes in labelling on commonly ‘mis-flushed’ items, and a deposit return system for returnable containers and goods.
Our oceans desperately need our protection, with rising temperatures and changes in chemistry due to our carbon emissions.
